I forgot to tell you all, dear readers, that I will be heading to VMware Explore in Las Vegas this year!
This time I am going as a Sales Engineer representing VMware instead of as a Customer.
I was warned by my Leadership that, “it’s a different experience” on the Sales side, saying that, “it’s work” and that I’ll be, “exhausted at the end of the week.”
I’m sure that’s all true, but it seemed like more than a few people went out of their way to tell me that. It was sort of a, “why does everyone keep telling me that?” moment.
Like they thought as soon as I found out I was going I called up my bookie and ordered my usual Vegas-grade cocaine and mescaline.
Worry not, VMware leaders. I shall refrain from my usual cocaine and mescaline, and I will make sure it’s all work for me.
I promise not to have a good time.
What to Expect
Many of the announcements are kept hush-hush even from us VMware Employees.
But. Reading the tea leaves, some items to look at:
- Emphasis on the vSphere Distributed Services Engine and features that support AI/ML. Gosh, I wonder why?
- Ransomware Recovery as a Service. Gosh, I wonder why?
- Further convergence/integration of the Aria Suite of tools.
- vSAN ESA shifting to be the main VMware vSAN platform moving forward, as opposed to the OSA.
- Lots of details on vSphere+ and it’s advantages.
- Call this one 4A: One thing I would encourage you to look into with vSphere+ is the Cloud Consumption Interface. This provides Self Service to create VMs through the Customer Cloud Connect portal. This is a feature that is not often talked about and one that can create a public-cloud like experience on multiple vSphere Datacenters.
I am sure there are others, but those are the items off the top of my head. See you there!
If you’re going to VMware Explore, hit me up on twitter @RussianLitGuy or email me at bryansullins@thinkingoutcloud.org. I would love to hear from you!
